ACoS targets depend entirely on your margin. A rough rule: your breakeven ACoS equals your gross margin percentage. If your gross margin is 40%, any ACoS below 40% is profitable. For growth-phase sellers, running a slightly above-breakeven ACoS to build rank and review velocity can be rational — we model this explicitly against your unit economics before setting any target.
TACoS (Total Advertising Cost of Sale) measures your ad spend as a percentage of total revenue — including organic sales, not just ad-attributed sales. It's the more important metric because it shows the true advertising overhead on your entire Amazon business. A falling TACoS while ACoS stays constant means your organic rank is improving — your ads are building organic momentum, which is the goal.
